The only drawback involved a few needed repairs. The kitchen sink had a leak underneath so we basically didn't use the cold water. And my sister said the bathtub didn't hold water. (I'm sure those things have been fixed by now, though.) Also one window blind in the triple doorwall wasn't operational. (Not sure if that can be fixed.) If so, the sunrise would have been even more spectacular, if that were even possible. However this was not a real problem since you just take one step onto the private deck and view it in person, lol.
Such a fun place to vacate with beach and lake access. Their decor/theme gives the experience that extra umph and fun!! Returning customer!
We took a quick drive to check out the two sister resorts and are certain those are going to be awesome also. Thank you Mai Tiki Resort for a wonderful beach experience! We will most definitely recommend Mai Tiki Resort (and especially condo 5.)
Even with my back I slept well on the bed. We enjoyed the entertainment Wednesday night too.
I used to go to these cottages when I was a kid when it was called New Ausable Beach. It was always clean and a great time. I decided to go back to the area as an adult, and stayed at the same place (now Mai Tiki Resort) There were no rooms available at the Mai Tiki Resort, so we stayed at another property of theirs called Mai Tiki Beach Club (formally El Cortez Resort). We booked it for two nights. The gentleman told me it was a rustic cabin, and I was fine with that, as that is what the cabins were like when I went there as a kid. When we arrived, we were SO diappointed. The pull out couch was filthy, and luckily I brought extra sheets with us, so we covered the couch with the sheet. Windows were dirty, curtains were dirty, and the comforter in one of the rooms was torn. On one of the beds, it felt like sand in the sheets. Again, I am glad I brought extra sheets. We had to open worn out windows to get the musty smell out. There was no bath soap, or dishwashing soap although you are responsible to clean the dishes (which makes sense). We had to run to a store to get both. We paid $150.00 a night for this place and you would think they would provide bath soap and dishwashing soap. The plastic chairs outside on the porch of the cabin were faded and dirty and there was an old glass top table right outside the door. I was also disappointed in the beach. There were old breakwater walls all across the beach. There was no swimmimg access unless you jumped over the breakwater wall, which would have been extremely dangerous. The only reason we didn't leave that night is we were both exhausted from the long drive, but the next day we checked out. Of course per their cancelation policy, we forfeited our money and drove back home. These cottages have such potential, but it didn't seem like anyone cared to keep the outside of the properties picked up, and to clean up in the inside. I can only speak to the cottage I was in, and maybe the other ones are much better. If these cottages are a work in progress, they should not have rented them out. I never have written a bad review on a hotel or beach resort, and I am sorry to have to write this one. I just think others that are interested in this property should ask more questions about this place when making a reservation.
Booked a room for a Friday and Saturday night. Received a phone call the following week saying the guest who had our cabin for the net few days after we left cancelled for Sunday so I either had to move my days or pay more money to move to a different cabin because I quote"no one is going to drive up north for one day. We don't do dead night. " Due to the fact we were celebrating our sons 5th grade graduation and they already knew we were going, I agreed to pay more money for another cabin, even though she should have waived the extra cost as we had nothing to with the cancellation issue. We got off the phone and I realized I didn't ask for a confirmation email so the price she told me would be confirmed. When I called back to ask for the confirmation so I wouldn't get screwed over again, she said if you feel that way then this isn't the place for you and cancelled our entire reservation. She was rude, and not very accommodating for something that we had no control over. We now have reservations at blue horizons court.
My sisters, niece and I recently had a 2 night stay in condo 5. We loved it! I would definitely come back and totally request #5 again. The private deck & bonfire area was awesome! Being so close to the water was terrific for me as I have back issues and trouble walking. Not close to the parking lot for unloading but once there I was good to go. Besides the private fire pit I really enjoyed going to sleep and waking up to the sound of the waves. We were SO close!!
Nice resort. Wish all of the things there were able to be used. I'm assuming it is because it's early in the season. Very friendly staff. Has everything that you need in the cabins for cooking.
